The Alcázar of Segovia, declared a World Heritage Site in 1985, is a monument of great beauty and history. Its construction, strategically located on a hill between two rivers, dates back to the 12th century, although its current appearance is due to the expansions and reforms carried out between the 15th and 19th centuries.
Throughout its history, the Alcázar has been the site of important events and royal residence. Its architecture, which includes Romanesque, Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance elements, is a reflection of the continuous reforms and additions. The building currently houses the General Military Archive, the Armory Room, and a museum of the Royal College of Artillery, among other interesting spaces.
