The ceiling decoration dates back to the Napoleonic era. In 1812 Felice Giani painted a lively scene of sacrifice in the center at two altars dedicated to Peace and to Giano (the latter also in reference to the painter's surname). In the iconographic program studied for this room, peace is exalted as a necessary condition for the development of the arts and culture, for this reason Giani had also painted four personifications of the Arts inside the coffered ceiling, replaced in 1903 by the mirrors visible today.
