View of the frontal altar, Chapel of St John the Baptist

The altar has a lapis lazuli frontal with hard diaspore corners. The base and cymatium are made from ancient yellow and the fascia is amethyst. It is flanked by two pilasters on a florid alabaster background with royal coat of arms in bronze gilt, A hard diaspore socle forms the transition between the altar bakground and the altar table, which has a lapis lazuli background with metal ornamentation.
