View of the oratory of Paolo V

Quirinale Palace

Quirinale Palace
Rome, Italy

In 2020, the removal of a panel hidden from the tapestry made it possible to reopen a passage that had hitherto been hidden. From the Paolo V door he could access the small private oratory created in the thickness of the wall that divides the Pauline Chapel from the papal apartment. This room it allowed the pope to attend mass privately. Through a small window the pontiff could look directly at the altar of the chapel. The small oratory is the work of the workshop of Martino Ferabosco, who decorated the vault with entirely gilded stucco. The walls of the tiny room, on the other hand, bear the fresco paintings by Cesare Rossetti.
