Gigante depicts a clear view of the Royal Palace of Naples, as he enjoyed a privileged vantage point offered by the panoramic terrace of the palace of the Prince of Salerno. The artist retouched the image a few years later, and today the color is slightly altered due to the oxidation of the paper.
