Viking 1 Launch at Cape Canaveral View 1

Dr. Gerry Soffen, Chief Scientist and Dr. Carl Sagan of the Imaging Team both served on the VIking mission, and made frequent appearances to explain the science objectives and mission highlights, with the public. Many of these were informal sessions such as this one, poolside provided the public with an exciting personal view of the mission. Many of the children in this image are children of Viking Team Members.
