Viking goldsmiths and silversmiths produced jewellery of outstanding craftsmanship. They were adept at plaiting thick gold threads. This plaited gold bracelet dates from the latter half of the 10th century. It was found in excavations in Wijk bij Duurstede, along with other Scandinavian items of jewellery. It ended up here through ties with Viking voyagers.
