Rimini, Italy

"The Villa Giuseppe Faccanoni is located in Sarnico, built in Liberty style in 1907 by the architect Giuseppe Sommaruga on the orders of the entrepreneur engineer Giuseppe Faccanoni.
Built in different stones: from ashlar to Sarnico stone, to Credaro medolo (both smooth and rough). The main view, the one seen from the lake, is composed of a high base, stairways, windows and balconies in an asymmetrical perspective decorated by two rows of concrete bas-reliefs created by Ernesto Bazzaro and pastel colored ceramics. Also noteworthy are the railings and the wrought iron gate of the main entrance of Via Veneto made by Alessandro Mazzucotelli. Equipped with a large garden in Mannerist style, it has several terraces that give the villa the appearance of a ship that stands out on the lake. There is also a dock for boats and, in the past, there was a large fountain, which was later removed for safety reasons.
Already in 1907 it was equipped with shutters, a radiator heating system, water and electricity for lighting. Due to the German occupation during the Second World War, much of the original interior furniture is no longer present.
The whole history of the building can be read in the monograph "" Giuseppe Sommaruga (1867-1917). A protagonist of the Liberty "", edited by Andrea Speziali, CartaCanta editore 2017. "
