"The Villa Pietro Faccanoni or known as Villa Passeri, is located near the public park, in an area that at the beginning of the century was called Piè degli Orti. Originally a small spinning mill, in 1907 it was transformed into a home at the behest of the owner Pietro Faccanoni.
Sommaruga arranged the building without upsetting its structure, but dedicating himself above all to the decoration and furnishing of the interior and exterior in Liberty style.
The villa is immediately revealed to the passer-by in all its splendor: immediate is the perception of the facade facing the lake which presents some usual acronyms of the architect's style, such as the passing band that binds the windows and the ribbon motifs intertwined with those of taste floral. The gate, the railings, the wrought iron gratings for doors and windows are the work of Alessandro Mazzucotelli, artist - craftsman to whom Sommaruga used to rely for the realization of his projects. The subjects chosen for these elements of ornament and defense are based on the study of the flat ribbon and floral elements. Finally, the central balcony closed by a window that creates a small veranda area is very characteristic.
Villa Passeri is one of the five Art Nouveau architectural works in the Municipality of Sarnico.
The whole history of the building can be read in the monograph "" Giuseppe Sommaruga (1867-1917). A protagonist of Liberty "", curated by Andrea Speziali, CartaCanta publisher 2017.
