Vineyards at Cidermas

This set consists of different plots on the slope facing the valley of the Ceira River, between the town of Galafura and the sanctuary of S. Leonardo. The vineyards on this slope are mostly built according to modern systems, with some patches of pre- and post-phylloxera terraces remaining, along with areas of "mortório" recolonized by tree and shrub vegetation. Among the different plots stand out the patches along the way to the Sapa and on the way to the Cidermas. The first set stands out for its extension and monumentality, occupying a significant area intersected by large bluffs and olive tree borders. The design of the schist walls is adjusted to the orography of the terrain, and some of them use the smaller buffs as foundations. The narrow and irregular terraces, served by small stairs, contain only one row of vines. It is worth noting the preservation of irrigation systems with water retention wells, as well as shelters of vernacular architecture. These small structures adapt to the terrain in perfect harmony by the scale and surrounding materials.
The other patch to be noted, composed by eighteen pre-phylloxera terraces, is located in a shell on the winding Cidermas path, with a wine cellar nearby. Combining the planting of the vine without mobilization of the land with the
traditional terraces, this section of landscape stands out by the irregular layout of its low walls built on rocky outcrops.
