The terracotta figure of Christ, which was originally painted, is shown rising from his tomb, pointing at his side wound. His long, curly hair and the sorrowful expression of his bearded face fits well in the series of Christ-images produced by the great master of Florentine Quattrocento, Andrea del Verrocchio; the Christ and St Thomas group in the Florentine Or San Michele or a terracotta bust of Christ in a New York private collection can be mentioned as examples.
