One of the most significant religious phenomena of the Gothic period was the devotion to Our Lady, and the standing, expectant Virgin was its most original image. Popularly known as the Virgin of the O, this polychrome limestone piece, originating from the Cathedral in Coimbra, is one of the most noteworthy pieces of work to come from the hands of Master Pero.
