Virgilio Sieni workshops

"Thauma, the Atlas of Gesture" is the third appointment of I-DEA, a Matera European Capital of Culture 2019 project on the theme of archives. The great choreographer and dancer Virgilio Sieni, in his unprecedented role as curator, starting from the study of the materials from the archives of Basilicata, composes an in-progress gesture archive through exhibitions, installations, practices, choreographic actions, performances and special projects in collaboration with anthropologists, diarists, architects, archivists, photographers and videographers as well as citizens themselves who actually are the "nomad collectors" of those gestures and objects that have inhabited man over time.
