The identity of the artist who produced this work is still unknown. However, the existence of other very similar works suggests that it was painted by members of the workshop established in Brussels in the late 15th century, called the "Master of the Gold Brocade" group. They all have interesting points in common, such as the particular features of Christ and the Virgin, the richness of detail, and the vegetation with pomegranates adorning the top, resembling an uneven wrought iron arch.
