Long Description: "The painting originally adorned the altar of the castle chapel in the Velika Nedelja castle, which was owned by the Teutonic Order.
St. George kneels before Madonna seated on a throne while little Jesus offers him a palm leaf, a symbol of martyrdom. The vanquished dragon is lying dead at St. George's feet.
The painting was painted in 1727 by Martino Altomonte (1657 - 1745) who at the time worked for the commissioners in Vienna, Hungary, Styria and Carniola." (dr. Polona Vidmar)
