This early vacuum cleaner was designed by David Edward Davies of 40 John Bright Street, Birmingham and marketed as the "Volvac Continuous Suction". He applied for patents to improve the design in 1909 but this example probably dates from a little earlier. The wheel on the top moves both sets of bellows in succession to ensure the "continuous suction" effect.
