The Queensland War Council operated between 1915 and 1932 and was responsible for the collection and administration of funds, and programs for the resettlement and employment of returned soldiers. The Anzac Committee was set up to erect homes for homeless widows and orphans of fallen soldiers. On 23 June 1923 the funds of the Anzac Committee were voted to be used to provide homes for returned soldiers who were suffering from tuberculosis.
