Vostok VZA ejection seat and SK-1 spacesuit

The first cosmonauts would eject from their returning Vostok spacecraft at altitude, completing their descent to Earth by parachute. Vostok's design meant it descended too fast for cosmonauts to survive its impact with the ground. The VZA ejection seat and SK-1 spacesuit were used on Vostoks 1 to 5.
