Vyasa

The great philosopher was born on an island in river Yamuna. Around the 7th century AD., Vyasa wrote the earliest and best commentary on the Yoga Sutras. He classified 4 vedas and wrote 18 Puranas. He is the author the great epic Mahabharatha.
