Waist skins (aprons) made by a man for his wife from goat skin which has the hair scraped. The pieces are stitched together with cow sinew. ENGOBO (front apron) and ENKURUGI (back apron) are smeared with red ochre mixed with cows fat to make the skins soft. Traditionally, Kisii men make skin clothes for their women, where as in most ethnic groups skin clothing is made by women.
