This waistcoat is an important survival of the clothing of King George III. It was worn during the last days of his life.
The garment has extra fabric inserted at the shoulders to make the jacket more comfortable for the King and easier for his servants to dress him. None the less it is still an elegant item of fine delicate pale turquoise silk damask in a floral pattern, with pale turquoise silk twill sleeves.
