This photograph was taken by the wife of the Reverend H E Brown, who was a vicar in several Derbyshire parishes in the 1950s. The people in the photograph are members of one of his churches.

Edale is a village in a valley surrounded by hills within the Peak District National Park. The landscape is popular with walkers, and Edale is the start of the Pennine Way, a 268 mile long national trail.
