This plaited white oak wall basket has a hanging loop at the top of a back piece that connects three rectangular pouches. The pouches are graduated, increasing in size from top to bottom. The piece is intended as a catch-all for household items. The original Qualla Arts & Crafts Mutual tag, still attached, reads, "Indian Arts and Crafts Board, genuine handicrafts / Certified Indian Enterprise, U.S. Department of the Interior / Object: Wall basket / Craftworker: Alyne Driver / Material: White Oak / Dyes: Walnut and bloodroot / Price 50.00".

The Qualla Arts & Crafts Mutual was founded in 1946 in Cherokee, North Carolina, and is the nation’s oldest and foremost Native American artisan cooperative. Cherokee basket maker Alyne Driver(1943-1997) was a member artisan of the cooperative.
