The 25th National Exhibition of Art, 1979
1st Prize, Gold Medal Award in Prints

The National Exhibition of Art is the oldest national competition stage of Thailand that has been organized constantly until now. It aims to encourage Thai artists to produce painting, sculpture, prints and multimedia works which present their artistic skills. Gold medal, silver medal and bronze medal award-winning works will become the property of Silpakorn University, who reserves the right to promote works in all channels.

Ithipol Thangchalok is recognized for his abstract art using printmaking as well as unique techniques and concepts. He was influenced by the surroundings he had observed and strategically considered—from simple visible objects to complex ones needed to be comprehended through printmaking classes. The art of printmaking is what the artist utilizes to channel his art, represent his concepts, and rediscover everything. These all contributed to a higher level of abstract work and his recognition as a National Artist in Visual Arts in 2009 and the 13th Artist of Distinction in 1979.
