This carved wooden plaque is said to have been part of the panelleing in Leeds Moot Hall. The Moot Hall was originally built in 1615 as a town hall and court house and stood in the middle of Briggate. This panel probably dates from when the hall was rebuilt in 1710-1711. As a result of the 1824 Improvement Act, the Moot Hall was demolished in 1825 to widen Briggate. All the court and council proceedings moved to the new Court House on Park Row.
