Walled garden, Clonbrock, Ahascragh, Co Galway, around 1900

Clonbrock house was built in the 1780s by Robert Dillon, later 1st Baron Clonbrock, to the designs of architect William Leeson. In the 1870s the Clonbrock estate amounted to over 28,000 acres. The photographs from the Clonbrock Collection, acquired by the National Library of Ireland in 1976, were taken by the various members of the Dillon family during the years 1860-1930.
