The picture by Andrzej Nowacki, made in the acrylic on canvas technique, presents a male figure inscribed in the lower half of the elongated pictorial field. The naked figure in a crouching pose is marked with an effort, supporting himself against falling, or attempting to elevate the crosswise black form, which is a sort of slat being an end-border of a screen or a curtain, that, although invisible, obscures the man's face. The painting is monochromatic, the black horizontal stripe stands against the creamy-white background, and the figure with a light-ochre complexion was developed as a drawing, modelled with dark chiaroscuro. The man's body is presented with great realism and attention to the anatomical signs of effort, such as tense muscles and swollen veins. [F. Pręgowski]
