Wanderer

Ogden Museum of Southern Art
New Orleans, United States

Wanderer is a work of a great hope. The figure is large, full, and clear. While looking back over his shoulder, he is walking towards a distant vanishing point with an obvious pathway before him. The sun is descending from high noon, but still a long way from setting. The strength and masculinity of the figure represent signs of power. Gordy was a complex and highly accomplished artist, and this last work serves as a memorial to his legacy.
