War blind man with headset recording a telegram text with the aid of a dictation machine and a Triumph "Matura" typewriter in the telegram recording department of the German Federal Post Office in Bremen.
Caption in the calendar "The year with the post 1958":
The German Federal Post Office helps the war blind to cope with their difficult lot. War blind people are employed in telephone exchange and telegraph services as well as in clerical and counter services at specially equipped workplaces. The awareness that they are doing full-fledged work gives them the strength to cope with life themselves.
Here, telegrams handed in on the telephone are recorded with a dictating machine and typewriter and forwarded on conveyor belts for telegraphic transmission.
