Anne Saunders was born in Edinburgh Scotland in 1955. She has a Bachelor of Arts (Illustration and Printmaking) from the University of Dundee in Scotland (1973-1977 and a Masters of Art (Fine Arts) by Research from Latrobe University Bendigo (1991 - 1994). Saunders was the Senior Lecturer School of Arts, University of Ballarat from 1990 - 2004 and now lives in Daylesford with her artist husband, Doug Wright. Saunders had a solo exhibition at Central Goldfields Art Gallery in 2014 titled Now and Then, 20 years drawing and painting. In the 2005 exhibition catalogue titled Anne Saunders accompanying the exhibtion titled Anne Saunders Recent Paintings at Flinders Lane Gallery Melbourne in 2005, Saunders stated ‘I cover up many of the marks, making them quiet, away from the frenetic borders or boundaries; an inner quiet, peaceful, not too many modulations. I want them to be gradual, still felt but may be stronger because of the evocative silence’.
