The Preston photograph collection consists of images of Rhode Island buildings and landscapes, c. 1920-1936, when Howard Willis Preston was the first director of the State Bureau of Information from 1927 to 1932.
Howard Preston documented Rhode Island life through these photographs, as well as various postcards, newspaper clippings, and pamphlets all related to the history of RI. Preston led the effort for recreational advertising to increase tourism.
