This pocket watch has a lid and copper casing with a ring of diamonds and brass elements. It has a verge escapement mechanism. The white sphere has Roman numerals, Arabic references and a black signature. One of the faces features a typical romantic scene. These scenes were frequently painted on Swiss watches between 1780 and 1800. In these cases, the mechanisms were assembled in boxes produced in independent enamelling workshops. This specimen was painted by Leton. The watchmaker Philippe Terrot, like many others ran a company with a notable production, of which interesting examples can still be seen in European and American collections.
