This is a large, water bird-shaped haniwa. Its two feet, each with three webbed toes, stand on the base of the haniwa. Its wings and tail feathers are depicted by small attached clay tablets. Both wings and the neck portion still contain hakudei (white clay), so this haniwa is thought to represent a swan.
