This ceramic jar was made to look like a wooden receptacle, circularly bended and bound at the edges in front. It is applied with iron glaze, and shows the scarlet color. Fundogata (a shape of Japanese weighing scale) is engraved on the flat bottom. The original lid, which was also Bezen ware, was broken and replaced with this lacquer lid.
