Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Victorian and Australian batsman, Jack Ryder. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Ryder played some of his best innings at the MCG, including 295 of Victoria's 1107 against NSW (1926/27), and 112 in the Third Test against England (1928/29). He played 20 Tests for Australia (1920-29) making 1394 runs at an average of 51.62; played 20 seasons for Victoria and 37 seasons of Melbourne District cricket. In all first class cricket, he made 10,051 runs and took 238 wickets. The Ryder Cup is awarded to the best District player each season.
