Waterfall

Nukina Kaioku1849-1863

Sakai City Museum
Sakai-shi, Osaka, Japan

Viewed from the distance, the waterfall in the valley is splashing down, the rocks getting wet and black. The large hanging scroll brings the refreshing atmosphere from the mountains.
The inscription is a line from a poem by Song Zhiwen made upon the request from the Empress Zetian Wu, which reads the fall is as big as 100 zhang, about 300 m.
