Water, also called the “blue gold”, is expected to become one of the biggest future causes of political and social distress. About 1 billion people do not have access to it and every day, 5,000 people die for drinking polluted water, making of it one of the biggest preventable causes of human deaths. Furthermore, two billion people lack access to electricity, and five billion do not have access to connectivity.

Watly is a solar-powered ‘mega computer’ composed of 4 arch shaped power units. Its water purification process is based on vapor compression distillation; by far the most effective and powerful method of water purification. It outperforms reverse osmosis, nano-filtration and ultraviolet purification methods, and its water quality is outstanding. Each Watly unit is scalable and versatile and can provide electricity and Internet to communities of about 3,000 people.

With Watly, countries with poor infrastructure, can build an advanced network in months instead of years, and governments can build modern infrastructures from scratch – at a fraction of the price. Watly can rapidly be sent worldwide to help poor countries or to sustain people’s life, it can be deployed and de-localized an indefinite number of times. Watly’s functionalities have a potential impact on the living standard of poor people, which goes beyond digging water wells. Watly brings people a form of progress that belongs to the 21st century, not just short term survival.
