Stereoscopic card depicting the Wawona Tree, or Wawona Tunnel Tree, a giant sequoia whose trunk was hollowed out to create a drive-through tunnel in 1881. The tunnel became a well-known tourist attraction for visitors to the Yosemite Valley for decades until it fell in the severe winter storms of early 1969. When it fell, the Wawona Tree was approximately 2,100 years old. It measured 234 feet high and 26 feet in diameter at the base. The famous tunnel was 7 feet wide, 9 feet high and 26 feet long at the base.
