Nowy Teatr and Krzysztof Warlikowski returned to the Athens Festival with We Are Leaving, inspired by Hanoch Levin’s Suitcase Packers. Placing characters at a crossroads between remaining in stasis or heading into the unknown, the production reframed departure as a powerful yet unsettling response to an uneasy world. With a seasoned ensemble of longtime collaborators, Warlikowski once again turned Levin’s universe into an evocative meditation on the human need to move on, even when no destination is assured.
