Museu do Oriente
Lisboa, Portugal

Woman weaving thread on an ancient, simple loom. She is seated on a small stool with her legs slightly bent from right to left, so as to support the fabric being made or the strands of raw thread to be weaved.
In modest costume (choli, ghagra and dupatta) of varied colour (two shades of blue, pink, red and yellow), and meticulous design (simulated lace and hems, elaborate motifs decorating the fabrics). She is covered in jewellery on her arms, wrists, ears, nose and ankles.
Watercolour, made by author and European technique, depicts traditional Indian tasks and his division in gender roles.
