Weaving combs

Excavations on the seasonally occupied Iron Age site at Meare in Somerset produced evidence for an exceptional range of craft and industrial activities. Among the most important was woollen cloth and textile production. Evidence for such activities included a large number of bone and antler weaving combs, some with incised decoration. Weaving combs are believed to have been used to make woollen braids for use as straps and accessories for clothing.
