The ornate crown, adorned with myriad stylised flower blossoms, was intended to be worn by an upper-caste bride at her wedding. The use of precious metals to imitate natural plant forms, such as blossoms, has a long tradition in Indonesian art and much favoured for ceremonial artefacts such as nuptial accoutrements.
