This wedding dress represented the height of bridal fashion in 1785. This lustrous silk dress, with brocaded fabric of European origin, retains its original color and petticoat, rarities for eighteenth century clothing. Sarah Onderdonk wore it on her wedding day, September 20, 1785, when she married David Richard Floyd-Jones. They settled at Fort Neck Manor, in present-day Massapequa, and had two children who survived infancy.
