This headdress is created out of ten pieces of 1/8-inch thick leather. Seven of the ten pieces are used to create the structural form which would rest on top of the head. These pieces are inserted into adjacent pieces of leather through slices and in some areas they are secured with 3/16-inch leather straps. This crisscrossing structure can be tightened while worn by using an adjustable strap that runs through the ends of three of the pieces of leather. It is possible that the headdress can be further secured through the use of a second more subtle leather strap hanging from the aforementioned adjustable strap. Within this crisscrossing structure there is a ring on which four pieces of leather are attached. This ring is created out of a leather core which is wrapped with leather. This ring functions as a join for intersecting pieces of leather, and it would further contribute to the adjustability of the headdress.
The remaining three pieces of leather are long and would have hung down from the structural headpiece described above. The largest piece is 57 1/2-inches long by 8 inches wide. The final two pieces are approximately 41 inches long and 2 1/2-inches wide. The lower edge of each of these pieces is cut multiple times to create fringe. Each of the thin lengths of fringe is wrapped onto itself in such a way to secure a cowry at the bottom.
