It was in London, during the 2012 Games, that live broadcasting in 3D was trialled for the first time. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the men’s 100m were among the events used for this new technology, which had to be broadcast on a special television channel. These spectators are watching a 3D broadcast of the Games at a special venue in the Olympic Park, the Panasonic full-HD 3D Theatre.
