A microscope is a device that allows objects to be magnified or visualized. These are usually objects or the structure of objects whose size is below the resolution of the human eye. A technique that uses a microscope is called microscopy. The oldest known microscopy technique is light microscopy, which has been developed since about 1600 and in which an object is viewed through one or more glass lenses.
