Photograph believed to be taken by Tom Richards during his service on the Western Front in World War I, likely near Bullecourt. Richards arrived at the front in March 1916 after evacuating Gallipoli and recovering in Egypt. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in November 1916, promoted Lieutenant in June 1917, and awarded the Military Cross in August. In May 1917, near Bullecourt, he led a nineteen-man bombing party.
