206BC - 25AD

Museum of the Tomb of Han Guangling King

This bronze weight is in the shape of a vividly lovely phoenix at rest with its head turned-around and resting on its drooping tail feathers. Silver wire was inlayed on both the tail and breast to illustrate the fine down, and also on the nails of the forward stretching claws. This is indeed a rare piece crafted with ingenious and meticulous techniques.
