A lovely portrait of a young princess playing with a baby. Signed by C Raja Raja Varma, there is a enough evidence to suggest that Ravi Varma may have also been involved in this work, albeit to a lesser degree. Raja Raja Varma, who was adept at painting landscapes, perhaps in a bid to steer clear of his brother's magnificent portraits and a cascading effect of being compared to him, preferred to focus on common people and not the royals. The baby in the painting is KR Ravi Varma, Mangala Bayi's son, born in 1887, and the nephew of Raja Ravi Varma. The princess who was about 10 (1877-1962) at the time of this work is Rohini Tirunal Injenji Tampuratty.
