Pedro de Peralta Barnuevo Rocha y Benavides

Portrait of Pedro de Peralta Barnuevo Rocha y Benavides (Lima, 1664-1743). Doctor in Canons and Law from the University of San Marcos. He is considered a scholar of his time, his knowledge covered astronomy, history, poetry, engineering, among others. He knew several languages. He was the major cosmographer of the viceroyalty (1709-1743) and rector of the University of San Marcos in 1715 and 1716.
